The direction General of sports of the Government of Extremadura, through the Foundation of youth and sport, summons the Excellentia scholarship program whose objective is to distinguish athletes who carry out with greater brilliance their participation in those competitions involving, based on the successful sports result and the academic record retrieved.
thus, the objective is the awareness to the young athletes of the importance of academic training and career already that after arrival or not to high competition exists with concurrency or after a necessary addition to the world of work. In the same way, is seeks to promote better conditions for development and personal preparation to the athlete, as well as helping already retired athletes to begin or continue their university education.
there are different categories in response to the different educational stages:
grants PAIDEIA (athlete school) for school-age athletes who combine their training with the career, and whose call includes athletes with functional diversity in educational stage that belong both to ordinary centres and special education centersassuming a breakthrough in the Elimination of differences to this group. NIKE (University athlete) scholarships for college athletes who wish to combine his career with already started College. They have a financial aid to cover tuition, school supplies or accommodation expenses up to a maximum of 1,000 euros. Scholarships (athlete retired) MARATHON for already retired athletes who in their day to be elite athletes could not begin college studies, and now decide to resume their education and start university studies, or started them in previous annuities and continue with the cited studies.
