The creation of the national scholarship program in support of the mobility of University students, students, University teachers and researchers was approved by the Government of the Slovak Republic in 2005. The national programme of scholarships of the Slovak Republic is funded by the Ministry of education, science, research and sport of the Slovak Republic.
the program national of scholarship of the Slovak Republic is intended to support the mobility of University students, PhD students, University professors, researchers and artists from abroad to stay at Slovak universities or organizations for research in Slovakia.
national scholarship program scholarships are also intended for college students and PhD students from Slovak universities to cover the costs of life related to their stay during the study of second grade, respectively study or research stay during the study of PhD at a foreign university or a foreign research center. College students, PhD students, University teachers and researchers of SAV (Slovak Academy of Sciences) with a permanent stay in the Slovak Republic can apply for a grant of travel related to the study or research planned overseas stay.
the grant funded by the national program of scholarship of the Slovak Republic the following persons may apply:
to) second degree students studying in foreign universities accepted academic mobility by some University public, State or private of the Slovak Republic, to pursue study in the Slovak Republic. Grant duration: 1-2 semesters;
B) PhD students studying or doing scientific preparation abroad accepted academic mobility by public, State or private universities or other external institution of education of the Slovak Republic, for study or research in the Slovak Republic. Grant duration: 1-12 months;
C) installed in foreign universities academics invited by a University public, State or private of the Slovak Republic, for a stay to courses, research or artistic stay in the Slovak Republic. Grant duration: 1-12 months;
D) researchers and artists invited by any public, private or State University external institution of education or organization nongubernamental of the Slovak Republic, for a stay to courses, research, or for an artistic stay in the Slovak Republic. Grant duration: 1-12 months.
grants can be requested by the citizens of the following countries:
a) Member States of the European Union
b) other countries that adhered to the Bologna process (named only those countries that are not States members of the European Union): Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and HerzegovinaCroatia, Georgia, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, Russia, Serbia (including Kosovo), Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine;
d) Canada, United States, Mexico, Central America and Latin America;
e) Australia, China (including Taiwan), Korea of the South, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, South Africa, New Zealand, Thailand, Viet Nam.
scholarship program is not intended for
students foreigners or foreign PhD students who apply for or are already accepted for the entire study of second degree in the universities or for all the study PhD in Slovakia; or those who are already performing the second degree of the University study and want to finance part of their study with the national programme of scholarships of the Slovak Republic;
foreign researchers and university teachers already installed at universities and Slovak research organisations;
the citizens of the Slovak Republic who are studying or engaged in activities at foreign universities or are installed in foreign research organizations;
recipient foreign fellows from a stay in Slovakia through other grant programs (like e.g. the Visegrád Fund, Erasmus, CEEPUS, bilateral agreements,…).
persons with permanent residence in the Slovak Republic cannot apply for the grant within the national programme of scholarships of the Slovak Republic which is intended for foreign applicants.
scholarship covers the costs of the life of foreign Fellows (accommodation, diet..), during their studies, research, give courses or artistic stay at Slovak universities, research organizations and organizations nongubernamentales.
scholar can ask the institution of income assistance in the search for accommodation and processing of essential formalities required for entry into the Slovak territory, or you can choose to resolve these issues by itself. National scholarship program does not cover travel expenses related to the trip to Slovakia.
monthly scholarship amount a) College students: 280 euros
b) PhD students: 470 EUR
c) teachers University/researchers or artists:
fledgling College Professor / researcher or artist young (= no title Ph.d. (or equivalent) with less than 4 years of experience how Professor University or researcher or artist): 670 EUR
expert Professor / researcher or expert artist:
with the title of Ph.d. (or equivalent) or more than 4 years of experience how Professor University or researcher or artist: 850 EUR
with the title of Ph.d. (or equivalent) and at the same time with more than 10 years of experience how Professor University or researcher or artist: 1,000 EUR
Fellows of origin of the non-member of the European Union, the European economic area and Switzerland who have received the scholarship for the stay of more than 3 months and who in order to get Slovakia temporary residence permit are required to present to immigration police document confirming that does not suffer from any disease threatening the public healththey will have the cost of the medical examination and the issuance of such a document required by the police repaid within the fellowship.
cost will be repaid based on file the original of the payment confirmation issued by relevant medical center with the maximum amount of EUR 250 by fellow. The list of these medical centers is located in the franchise police of respective aliens in the Slovak Republic. The fellow is required to present this confirmation of the payment within a period of 30 days from the beginning of the stay. In another case the fellow loses their right to the reimbursement of costs.
